Overflow Radio – A Gathering of Conversations

Emily Johnson / Catalyst’s new project, Overflow Radio, is a performance, skill-share, planting of 1000 trees, and radio transmission taking place over 24 non-consecutive hours within a massive quilt installation and across geographies and territories.

A Gathering of Conversations is a two-day symposium hosted in conjunction with Overflow Radio conjured with thought partners Brenda Child, Carly Bad Heart Bull, Kate Beane, Maggie Thompson, Mona Smith, and Diane Wilson. Collectively, we delve deeply into making, history in relation to place, relation with land, law, language, civil and sovereign rights. The event will strengthen our collective understanding through in depth inquiries and time with one another, land, and water.

Day 1, October 13, will be held at Owámniyomni and Wakan Tipi from 8:30am – 7pm. Activities include a coffee welcome, interpretive tour of Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls), two panel discussions with bad-ass Indigenous women, a visit and volunteer engagement at Wakan Tipi (Carver’s Cave), and full lunch and dinner. Transportation provided between sites. Please wear / bring appropriate outdoor attire for volunteer activity at Wakan Tipi Center.
