Minnesota environmental nonprofits unite to make a bigger impact this Earth Day
The Earth Day Collaborative aims to raise $100,000 for statewide environmental projects
Minneapolis — April 7, 2026 — Eleven Minnesota environmental nonprofits, known as the Earth Day Collaborative, are inviting Minnesotans to join One Day, One Earth, One Minnesota, a coordinated fundraising effort to support community-based environmental work across the state.
The Earth Day Collaborative seeks to raise $100,000 between now and Earth Day, April 22, for critical investment in Minnesota’s lakes, rivers, prairies, forests and communities. Funds raised will be shared among the participating nonprofits and directed toward projects such as protecting Minnesota’s waterways, restoring local habitat, advancing environmental justice and addressing climate challenges.
By coming together for change, the Earth Day Collaborative is creating an opportunity for fellow Minnesotans to celebrate the spirit of collaboration and invest in the future we want to build — together.
“We know Minnesotans care deeply about the stewardship of our natural resources. This collaboration recognizes that our environmental challenges are interconnected, and so are the solutions,” said Hannah Sorenson, development manager for Owámniyomni Okhódayapi, a Dakota-led nonprofit leading an environmental restoration project at Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls) in Minneapolis. “A single gift to the collaborative supports work happening in classrooms and community gardens, on riverbanks and restoration sites, at the Capitol and in neighborhoods across Minnesota.”
Earth Day Collaborative members include:
- Environmental Initiative
- Friends of the Mississippi River
- Frogtown Farm
- Great River Greening
- Huellas Latinas
- Metro Blooms
- Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy
- Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light
- Owámniyomni Okhódayapi
- Rainbow Research
- Urban Roots
Donations to the Earth Day Collaborative can be made online now through April 22. Supporters are encouraged to share information about this campaign within their networks to help maximize our positive environmental impacts.
